Founded and made the county seat of Fayette County in 1823, Fayetteville has experienced a revival of late. Over the course of the last 40 years, Fayetteville has experienced incredible but responsible growth. Still populated and enhanced by greenways, trees, flowers and open spaces, Fayetteville blends nature and commerce into a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Fayetteville’s downtown is undergoing a Main Street program revitalization and the city’s south side is rapidly developing. New business districts, including the outdoor shopping center known as the Pavilion, are continually adding to the variety of economic opportunities available for those living in Fayetteville.
But it’s not just all work in Fayetteville, as it boasts some world-class entertainment options. History is always an attraction to visitors and residents alike, who enjoy visiting the Fayette County Courthouse. Built in 1825, the courthouse is the oldest in all of Georgia and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It also serves as a popular gathering place and even hosts an annual art show. Other historic structures are located throughout Fayetteville and include the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House Museum, which showcases a variety of notable historical exhibits throughout the year.
Capacity crowds greeted the summer of 2002 opening of the Villages Amphitheater and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Located in the heart of Fayetteville in the historic Main Street District, Villages Amphitheater has welcomed nationally-known acts performing everything from rock and roll to bluegrass. The amphitheater also hosts "Free Family Fun Film Nights" under the Stars and other programs throughout the year. The city also hosts numerous annual events that bring in residents and visitors.
A city with true heart, Fayetteville is a community that enjoys a successful school system and low crime rates. Homes for sale in Fayetteville are increasingly sought-after in Georgia’s real estate market, and attract residents seeking modern amenities mixed with old-time charms. When you begin searching for your next home, keep Fayetteville’s real estate options in mind—you won’t regret it.
